4:48 pm - Posted by request: My first computer
Following a discussion, Pete asked me to post about my first computer. I couldn't bothered to transcribe or edit the conversation into a coherent thread of thought, so here is the unedited infodump. with links.

3:42 pm - Cinematic Titanic/Doctor Who crossover
The latest effort from the brains behind Mystery Science Theater 3000, the above mentioned Cinematic Titanic, has a new episode coming out for Christmas. They're revisiting an old favorite from the MST3k days; 'Santa Claus Conquers The Martians'. As usual the trailer is full of unconnected little riflets, with a rather jolly festive version of the theme music. It also contains the following:

I'm not quite sure what to make of that... But thankfully I don't have long to wait to find out.

12:02 am - iRock109: Borrowed Time.
The Court of appeals denied a stay. The new royalty rates go into effect sunday, with increased royalties retroactive till the beginning of 2006 and the payment due monday. So thats backpayment for the entire life of the station for us.
We will stay on air as long as we can legally. And then... *off goes the switch*

What a way to approach a stations first birthday.

If you're in the USA, and you havn't contacted your senator/rep, go here and do so if it pleases you. I'm not sure how much it will help at this point, but the internet radio equality act is still floating out there, and still has support.

7:24 am - My last words on the Benoit tragedy...
I made a further edit to my original post here. And I think I'm done on the subject, I know I've said that before but... I've really nothing left to say in light of whats come out. It took the night and some sleep to process it all. Still confused, still saddened, also angry. I think I'll leave the post a few days, then set it to private.

11:27 am - Chris Benoit: 1967-2007
EDIT: Wednesday 27th June 2007: Following the various press releases and police statements, I have removed the banner. If i'd been thinking clearly, I'd have done it last night. The below post is a celebration of his career. As for what happened this past weekend. I'm angry, and upset. I'm upset at the loss of a genuinely talented guy, who was loved by his peers and fans alike. And I'm angry, just incredibly fucking angry at him for what he did. Having seen the RAW from monday, and seen his peers remember him, his love for family, etc... Its difficult to put the two together (as I stated last night). I will continue to remember his memory, and his achievements, I can't forget them. His sudden downfall and the fact he felt the need to take his family with him... I'd rather not remember that, but it will also be forever in a part of my brain. We will never know the reason why what happened, happened. It will never be excusable or forgiven. He singlehandedly destroyed the lives of himself, his family and the aftershocks will continue to go out through his extended family and friends for many months to come. Especially given the media circus that is rising up around this. He will never be remembered simply as a legendary entertainer. He will be remembered as a murderer, his legacy forever tarnished.

Others have posted about this, and its of interest to relatively few of my f-list, so all will be below cut-tag. Its a rather long ramble.

Chris Benoit, his wife and his son were found Dead on Monday. )

Hm. I burnt up my lunch break finishing this and forgot to eat my sandwich... oops.

7:54 am - Past & Future.
Y'know, i've ummed and ah'd over making this post. Cause to many, really, it won't mean a thing. In fact, it's not even addressed to anyone on my F-list. But I know some people will come looking for it. So here it is.
The station I used to be part of... The station I did love being part of, and the station I left. I'm not out to sink it ok. Nor is anyone else involved in the venture I am now part of.
I left because i was angry and i felt decieved. I was angry that I had been mislead, and that others had been mislead. And we'd all been put in severe legal jeopardy by these misleadings. The DMCA is a legal document. Not following it can mean big fines, not only for the umbrella under which you operate, but for those who break the rules. Rules we were not informed of.
Things didn't add up. They really didn't add up. And I made a decision to leave. I wasn't the first to talk about leaving. Nor iirc, was I the firt to do it. But my reasons for leaving were never shared with anyone. Thats not how I play the game.

Now i'm part of a different game. One that really feels like family. Where roles are distributed fairly, and if theirs a problem we work through it, with no shouting or foot stomping, roles are distributed evenly, and everything is an open book. We work together as a team. Like things used to be. And we have fun. Like we used to.

We're now approaching our first year on air, and still the shit-flinging continues, and the allegations fly. From one side of the camp at least. And they say how we scheme, and backstab... and really, thats not what there is. We just get on with doing what we're doing. Some shows have stayed the same, but that was the DJ's thing. Not the stations. Some shows have evolved. I've gained a co-pilot, and a show format. And I've never been happier on air. I may have... oooh... less than a 10th of the maximum listeners I once had, but it really doesn't mattter. We've gained new DJ's, both from elsewhere and from... well, elsewhere. But they did so under their own steam, and their own dissatisfaction. We'll grow at our own pace. Doing things are own way, because you can't travel the same road twice.

And I miss what there was. But I like what there is now. And I realize that it doesn't matter two shits what i say here, because really, the people who i want to believe me most. Won't. I make this own post for my peace of mind. And I leave it here public and open. And I didn't name any stations or any people. So it will sit here, and maybe the people I want to find it, will. And maybe they'll believe me. But I doubt it. If they want to contact me... they know where to find me.

11:02 pm - There will be many posts of this nature...
And none of them will make it feel any better.

Craig Hinton has passed away, he was found in his flat and any more details are currently unknown.

Craig was a writer, a far better one than he was credited with. He was a great guy as well. I loved the fact that he always had something to say to me, something nice, and was generally pleasant and asked how I was. And we talked at length about many differing subjects on different occasions. Not all of them associated with fandom, some of them just pure chance meetings. I regret not seeing him more often.

Will miss you Craig.

11:36 am - Recipes from the weekend...
As said earlier, here are recipes from the weekend, the cornbread recipe is particularly awesome.
All recipes from allrecipes.com, modified slightly for personal taste:

The cornbread also goes great with chili, soups, or on it's own.
Makes enough to stuff 3 people or more comfortably feed 4 if you make 8 enchiladas instead of 6.

10:03 pm - I may be late to the dance with this one, but...
Musician, songwriter, and part time Beatle Billy Preston has died, aged 59.

Bugger. Some of my favorite Beatles songs just wouldn't of been the same without him...
